If you’re looking for new fitness inspiration, then you’ve come to the right place. The first step is to create a fitness vision board that will help you get motivated, inspired, and most importantly, focused on your fitness journey.
Vision boards are something to create anytime, not just at the beginning of the year, so you can keep your dreams fresh and goals up to date.
What vision boards are and why you should create them
In brief, a vision board is a visual representation of what you want. They help you look forward, rather than backward. Vision boards keep you focused on what you want to accomplish and help you visualize your goals, dreams, and desires. Your vision board is an art-piece, a collection of words and images that you deliberately choose to help you stay focused on what you want to manifest in the year ahead.
When working with your vision board, it's a good idea to continue adding new inspiring images, words, and quotes as you refine your objectives. The best way to achieve them is to have your vision board handy where you’ll see it and can easily access it every day.
Fitness Vision Board ideas
1. The first thing to do is take a photo of yourself and print it out. This is your starting point. It’s where you currently are in this particular fitness chapter of your life.
2. Then find a photo of a healthy body that best represents your desired outcome as you begin (or continue) your fitness program.
3. The next step is to cut out a photo of your head with an expression that you like and paste it over the head of the body that represents your fitness goal.
At this point, you should have two photos of yourself cut out and ready to paste – one as you are today, and one that you’ve chosen as your gold standard, the healthy toned body with your face on it.
4. Choose the background for your fitness vision board. You can paint it, use colorful papers, or a map, get creative! Use the materials at hand or go a little crazy and let your crafty side go on a shopping spree, whatever allows you to focus on your health and fitness goals.
5. As an idea, glue the current image of yourself, just as you are, onto the left-hand side of your board, and glue the picture of your “ideal self” over on the right-hand side of your vision board.
6. You now have space between the two images on your fitness vision board, representing the journey you’re on. On a separate piece of paper, write down how you think you’ll feel when you’ve reached your fitness goal and are wearing your new body for reals.
7. Whatever emotions you wrote down, the goal isn’t to experience them AFTER you’ve attained your goal, but to tap into those feeeeeelings now. One reason why many people don’t achieve their fitness goals is because they’re holding themselves emotionally hostage, or separate, from what they want to feel until they actualize it. The irony, however, is that you won’t be an energetic match to your goal unless you embody the feeling of your outcome NOW.
Let’s switch topics for a moment to illustrate
Pretend you’re making a money vision board (instead of a fitness vision board), and you’re in debt. The journey you’d be making is from debt to wealth, but not if you’re still carrying shame, or bringing bad spending habits along with you. Embarrassment, guilt, and other feelings that register low on the emotional scale do no resonate or match with joy, happiness, freedom, love, or financial peace. You with me?
The goal is to become happy, confident, and self-assured, before you lose weight, tone up (or attract more money, a new partner, or whatever it is you desire). Loving and accepting yourself is like granting yourself a magic key that unlocks the power to achieve your goals and shape your dreams into reality.

8. Using stickers, pens, colored markers, or whatever art supplies you choose, love up the image on the left of your fitness vision board, surrounding it with hearts, words of affirmation, inspirational sayings — anything that opens the floodgates of positive emotions toward yourself. It’s okay if you experience a little discomfort at first when showing yourself grace and compassion or forgiving yourself for some stuff before you can be aligned with self-love. It’s all a part of the manifesting process.
9. Paste other words, phrases, and images* on the entire vision board, so that every time you look at it, you feel good NOW, and are excited to be on your fitness journey.
